Wordwoven
A downloadable game for Windows
Overview
Wordwoven is a single player roguelike where combat is driven by using words containing the letter characters you collect throughout the run. Deal damage to monsters by filling in sentences with words fitting a specific part of speech. Pick your letters, level them up through use, and progress through procedurally generated dungeons.
This project was built in Godot 4.6 by a four-person team.
How to Play
Each run begins with a set of five letters, chosen by the player, that serve as your starting letters for dealing damage. As you progress through the run, you encounter monsters which must be defeated by filling in the blanks in story sentences with words matching the part of speech indicated. Words must contain at least one of your letters to deal damage, and your letters gain XP and level up the more you use them.
Before each fight, you describe the monster with an adjective, which translates to a modifier that can shift the difficulty, effects, or mechanics during the fight. After each monster you defeat, you select a reward item to help you in future encounters.
A guided tutorial is available in game to walk through the core mechanics before getting started.
